Girls have become the fastest-growing population in the juvenile justice system. However, they are confined in a system tailored to the behavior of adolescent boys. Girls need gender-specific programming to appropriately address their unique needs. In this policy platform, the National Juvenile Justice Network offers recommendations on how to ensure a gender-specific approach to juvenile justice system policies, practices and programs.
